It is with deep sadness that we share this news

It is with deep sadness that the staff and board of Local Food Hub share the news of the sudden passing of our colleague Lisa Reeder. But it is also with joy that we remember all that Lisa contributed to making the world a better place.Lisa was an extraordinary mother, partner, friend, coworker, chef, and community member. She was passionate about all things food and agriculture, and found many ways to channel that passion into action. She spearheaded some of Local Food Hub’s most important programming, including the very impactful Fresh Farmacy program. She understood the challenges of farming and worked to bring needed resources to our partner farms. She was an enthusiastic participant in the Charlottesville Food Justice Network and many other coalitions. She made a mean BLT sandwich, and her contributions to staff potluck meals were unmatched. Even in the face of challenging health issues, her upbeat spirit and dedication to her friends, family, and work never wavered.Lisa will be greatly, greatly missed, but we will carry her example and her legacy with us with every step we take toward a healthier, more equitable food system. We encourage everyone to share memories of Lisa and well-wishes for her family by emailing info@localfoodhub.org.To read the Charlottesville 29 tribute to Lisa, go here.To read Lisa's obituary, go here.Lisa's Celebration of Life is Sunday, November 11. Get more details and RSVP here.Lisa leaves behind her sweetheart and father to their son, Geoff, her son Lincoln, and beloved dog, Oreo. We have created a GoFundMe to support Geoff and Lincoln as they navigate this new territory together, starting with addressing the costs associated with this sudden and tragic event. We appreciate any help you can provide.
