Maple Hill Farm
Maple Hill Farm is also home to our Farm Worker Training program. Developed in partnership with the International Rescue Committee of Charlottesville, this innovative program provides recent refugees with a job, a steady paycheck, access to fresh food, and hands-on agricultural training. At the same time, the program is helping to build a skilled farm labor workforce in our region – something local farmers say is severely lacking.
We grow more than seven acres of organic produce at the farm, including lettuce mix, tomatoes, onions, blackberries, raspberries, peppers, potatoes, kale, and chard. Twenty-five percent of all this delicious produce is donated to our neighbors in need at Bread of Life, the Haven, and Blue Ridge Area Food Bank. Seventy-five percent goes back into our warehouse distribution center and out to schools, hospitals, and retailers in the region.
