Get a Taste of the 434
Date: Sunday, June 5, 2011
Time: 3:30 pm
Where: Paramount Theater
Food Inc. was released way back in 2008, but even today the film holds a special place in the hearts of many agriculture and food enthusiasts. For some, the film was a shocking glimpse into an otherwise hidden industrialized food system. For others, it was just a heavy reminder to know your farmer and know your food.
Regardless of your position, you now have a chance to see the film on the big screen, right here in Charlottesville! The Paramount Theater is partnering with C-VILLE Weekly to host Taste 434, a Food Inc. screening, panel discussion, and celebration of our local food and wine community.
The event, which will take place on Sunday, June 5th, will begin with a tasting, where patrons can sample local food and wine offerings, followed by a discussion hosted by C-VILLE food & wine writer, Megan Headley. Panelists include Richard Bean of Double H Farm, Ben Thompson from The Rock Barn, Harrison Keevil from Brookville Restaurant, Matthieu Finot from King Family Vineyards, and yours truly from Local Food Hub.
Then the feature film Food, Inc. will be shown. Virginia wines by the glass will also be available.
After the movie, Brookville Restaurant will host a benefit dinner inspired by the movie. This dinner will be sold in a separate ticket that includes the movie and tasting. Ticket sales will benefit the non-profit Paramount Theater.
Join us! Tickets are $12 for the pre-movie events and film, and $55 with dinner included.
